Crop Science division of Bayer
Sue Cross is Head of Field Solutions at the Crop Science division of Bayer in Australia and New Zealand. Based in Melbourne, Sue is responsible for the development of new plant protection products for registration, line extension, formulation changes and ongoing research and development.
Born in the United Kingdom, Sue studied a Bachelor of Science in Agricultural Science at Nottingham University. In 1995, Sue joined Aventis as a Market Development Specialist, conducting field trials to obtain product registrations. In 2000, with the formation of Aventis, she moved from in-field trial work to managing the development of the Aventis (and subsequently Bayer’s) horticultural product portfolio. Sue later moved to the Crop Science headquarters in Monheim, Germany as Global Product Development Manager for Herbicides and later as Global Regulatory Science Manager for Fungicides. In 2011, Sue was appointed as Head of Development in Australia and is now Head of Field Solutions for Australia and New Zealand.
Sue is passionate about bringing new solutions to the Australian and New Zealand farming sector. She is excited for the potential of digital technologies in agriculture, particularly in the areas of automation and for data collection to support decision making across the farm.
