Growers assess new option for annual ryegrass control in barley

Achieving effective annual ryegrass control in barley crops can be difficult for many grain growers, however the recent registration of cereal herbicide, Mateno® Complete, for use early post-emergence (EPE) in barley provides a new option.

Mateno Complete is already used in wheat EPE and also can be applied pre-emergence in both crops. In 2022, a number of growers across the country hosted large-scale demonstrations of Mateno Complete applied EPE in barley. We spoke to Wade Parker, a grower in Marchagee, Western Australia, to assess his experience with the herbicide’s new barley use pattern.
