David Gregor Reg Science Bayer Crop Science Australia

David Gregor is Head of Regulatory Science for the Crop Science division of Bayer in Australia and New Zealand. David is responsible for achieving and maintaining regulatory approval for the Crop Science product portfolio and ensuring Bayer’s license to operate.

Born in the Victorian Mallee within a pioneering farming family, David has always had a passion for agriculture. He studied for a Diploma of Applied Science in Agriculture at Longerenong Agricultural College. After graduating, David’s first job was as an Agricultural Chemicals Officer for the Victorian Department of Agriculture, part of a team responsible for agricultural chemical and fertiliser registration related activities. In 1986 David joined Hoechst as a Registration Officer before being promoted to Registration Manager. Across a period spanning 35 years, and through a succession of joint ventures and take-overs, David led the respective regulatory teams as he moved from Hoechst to AgrEvo to Aventis to his current position in the Bayer team.

David is a firm believer that farmers are the ‘salt of the earth’ and has stayed in touch with both farmers and farming through his various outreach activities. David is passionate about mentoring the next generation of agricultural professionals. He wants to help people understand where and how their food is grown, and the challenges of feeding a growing population on an ever-decreasing area.

David will listen intently to anyone who has a vision and ideas on how to grow more wholesome and nutritious food in an efficient and responsible way, while always looking after the environment and the limited resources we have available to us.
