What blackleg?

Jockey Stayer brandtag

Jockey® Stayer® Seed Treatment Fungicide

Crucial disease protection in canola, wheat and barley Jockey Stayer is now the industry standard for protecting wheat crops against the root disease take-all, and provides vital early-season protection against blackleg in canola. Jockey Stayer is also registered for the control of a range of foliar and head diseases in wheat and barley. In wheat, Jockey Stayer provides control of common bunt, seed and soil-borne flag smut, and loose smut; early-season control of leaf rust and stripe rust; and suppression of septoria tritici blotch. When applied to barley, Jockey Stayer provides control of powdery mildew and scald, with good suppression of both diseases for an extended period.

FAQs

Question Answer
1 What are the benefits of treating my seed? Seed treatment provides the most targeted, (cost-) effective, practical and environmentally friendly approach to crop protection. Seed treatment may help minimise early up-front costs, since your crop is protected from the moment of sowing. It then keeps on protecting through the vital germination and early establishment stages. The active ingredient only covers the surface of each seed – so it's always located right where it's needed, and the total amount of chemicals used to protect your crop is dramatically reduced. Seed treatment fits well within any IPM strategy and allows for crop monitoring and timely foliar fungicide application.
2 How does Jockey Stayer work on the seed? Jockey Stayer is not very soluble in water and therefore forms a stable fungicide zone around the seed. Jockey Stayer is taken up slowly by plant roots during the season, drip-feeding the crop with active ingredient to provide a long period of residual disease control.
3 What are the benefits of using Jockey Stayer seed treatment? When Jockey Stayer is applied on the seed, the systemic nature of the product ensures that each individual plant is protected. Experience has shown that using Jockey Stayer can reduce or even eliminate the need for a post-emergent fungicide. For more information, please refer to the product guide.
4 How do I apply Jockey Stayer?  Jockey Stayer is applied to the seed prior to sowing. It may be applied on its own (canola) or in mixture with certain other seed treatment products, depending on the crop being treated and the target diseases. For treatment of wheat and barley seed Jockey Stayer may also be diluted with water prior to application. For best results Jockey Stayer should be used to treat only undamaged, cleaned seeds of high viability. For more information, please refer to the product label.
5 How long after the application of Jockey Stayer can I stock and bed out treated seeds?  Wheat and barley seed is suitable to use for 12 months after treatment, providing it is stored correctly. Original seed quality will influence the longer term viability of the seed. For canola, ensure treated seed is sown in the season of treatment to avoid possible negative effects, since Jockey Stayer may shorten the hypocotyls length of canola.
6 Which safety precautions should I adhere to when treating seeds?  It is good agricultural practise to wear cotton overalls buttoned to the neck and wrist (or equivalent clothing), elbow-length PVC gloves and goggles when preparing and applying seed treatment mixtures. Wash hands and all contaminated clothing after use. For more information on safety when using our products, please contact Bayer Crop Science
